Meet Kiu
Hi, I'm Kiu, the illustrator and designer behind Ziyi Studio. My artist name, Ziyi (子沂), means "flowing river." A feng shui master gave it to me to help balance my birth chart and keep my creativity moving, and it's stuck with me ever since.
I am a graphic designer but in 2025 I quit my full time job, no backup plan, just to make more room for this. I draw in bold, vibrant colour: cityscapes, everyday moments, folklore, mysticism, food, and Hong Kong, basically anything that makes me want to reach for bright colour.
We hand-made everything!
Every design starts as a hand-drawn illustration, no templates, no shortcuts. From there it becomes an art print, a card, a sticker, or a handmade clay piece.
The clay pieces are shaped and painted entirely by hand, so no two are ever quite the same.
Life Beyond
Beyond Ziyi Studio, there's a lot more going on. I still take on graphic design work on the side, it's been part of my life for a long time and I'm not ready to let it go entirely. Most weeks you'll find me at a Pilates or Lagree class, it's become one of the few times I'm not thinking about anything else. I also write, mostly personal essays, and share pieces of my life through YouTube and blogging, the parts that don't always make it into the shop. Every now and then I'll have a drink too, not a regular habit, just something I genuinely enjoy. All of it, the design work, the writing, the classes, is just part of who I am outside of the illustrations.
